                                                                   Dorothy Jernigan Ollie

                  CEO, visionary, educator, writer/producer, entrepreneur


Early Years

Dorothy Jernigan Ollie was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Jim and Irene Jernigan.
She is the middle child of six 6 children. Dorothy grew up in the New Boggy Baptist Church under the leadership of
the renowned, Rev. Harry Blake, who has served as president of the National Baptist State Convention for over a
decade.
She accepted Christ at a very young age, and was anointed with a remarkable speaking and singing voice, with
gifted abilities in public speaking, singing, and creative writing. Dorothy became the lead songstress in the church
choir. At the age of nine, her mother, Irene Jernigan became her manager, and drove her to many church related
events, such as public speaking and singing engagements, and other public and private organizational functions,
throughout Louisiana and Texas.

Education

After graduating from high school, Dorothy enrolled at Grambling State University, in Grambling, Louisiana, on a
career path in Speech & Theatrical Arts. After two years, she transferred to Bishop College, a private Baptist
Institution in Dallas, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in Education and Theatrical Arts. She
later earned a Masters Degree in Education, with emphasis on the Performing Arts, from Prairie View A&M
University of Texas, in Prairie View, Texas.

Educator

In 1975-1980, Dorothy taught in the Dallas Independent Public School District. During her tenure, she learned the
art of screenwriting techniques in her spare time, as well as, wrote theatrical plays, produced and directed
Theatrical Productions and hosted Showcases of Talent Events for DISD students.
After a painful divorce, Dorothy, with her three children, moved to Los Angeles, California, and taught school in
the Los Angeles Unified Public School System for 14 years, while volunteering her service in Theatrical Arts.  
While teaching she continued to explore theatrical training at Los Angeles City College, where she learned
screenwriting.

Ministry

Dorothy continued being active, on a spiritual journey, after moving to Southern California, and served under the
guidance and leadership of her brother, Rev. E.V. Jernigan, Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist church, for five
years. During that time, Dorothy organized a Church Academy, for youths to meet and explore many topics, such
as positive thinking, goal setting, resiliency, character and relationship building, while learning communication and
limit-setting skills. In 1986, Dorothy had a spiritual calling to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, was licensed and
preached under the leadership of the renowned Bishop E. Lynn Brown, Presiding Bishop, in the Ninth District of
the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Southern Calif., serving the Conferences of Alaska-Pacific, Arizona-
New Mexico, Northern Calif., and Oklahoma-Muskogee.
In 1989, she was ordained as an Elder and Traveling Evangelist in the CME Church.

Social Ministry

In 1990, Dorothy created Social Concern In Action Inc., a non-profit outreach organization, serving
underprivileged youths in Los Angeles in the performing Arts, athletic and social skills. As a single parent, Dorothy
inspired her children as well as many community youths, many from single parent households. In 1998, Dorothy
returned to Texas and taught in the Plano Independent School District where she again volunteered her time to
students in the Arts.

Writer/ Producer, Entrepreneur

In 2003, Dorothy created Social Concern In Action Film Productions, Inc., and KEVDOLLIE Film Development
LLC. a Texas Independent Film Company where she serves as Founder and CEO. www.scia.us  
Dorothy has five completed screenplays, however, “SHARKO,” is her first screenplay/project, which her company
will produce as a feature film.

Social Outreach

In 2006, SCIA SPEAKS Inc., a non-profit outreach organization was born, being Dorothy’s passion once again, to
serve the community youths in theatrical arts, athletic, and social interactions. www.sciaspeaks.org

Evangelist, Dorothy Jernigan Ollie enjoys her son, daughter-in-law, two daughters, four grand-children, five
sisters and brothers.
